Wedding celebrations are a beautiful blend of love, tradition, and personal style. As couples embark on their new chapter of life, they seek unique and meaningful ways to express their personalities through decor. 2025 promises a dynamic tapestry of decor trends, moving beyond the fleeting fads to embrace sophisticated aesthetics and sustainable practices.
Here are some of the breakthrough themes, materials, and design elements that will create unforgettable moments, according to star wedding planner, Sophie Frost, who is the Wedding Events Manager at Babington House in Somerset, England. She has worked as a large-scale event planner for roughly a decade, and at Babington House, one of the high profile, private locations of the Soho House private members’ club and hotel, she has the sole responsibility of selling, planning, managing, execution and delivery of all wedding takeovers at the house, managing high budgets and glorious details and outstanding VIP guest lists.
Tabletop Trends In The Spotlight
In 2025, tabletop decor will lean heavily into a mix of understated elegance and curated individuality. “Expect layered textures to take center stage — think stoneware chargers paired with delicate glassware, or linen napkins with hand-embroidered details,” said Frost. “Organic shapes will be a defining trend, with asymmetrical plates and irregularly shaped serveware adding an artistic touch.” She notes that statement glassware, like colored or etched pieces, will also shine in the coming New Year.
“It creates visual interest and ties together a cohesive design,” she adds. “Personalization will be key, with custom menu cards, bespoke napkin rings, and unique place settings making every table feel like an extension of the couple’s story.”
Lighting as a Defining Element: Candles And Candleholders
According to Frost, candles are essential for creating ambiance at a wedding. “I love working with a mix of taper and pillar candles to add height and dimension to tablescapes,” she said. “For 2025, colored candles in soft pastels, warm terracottas, or even deep jewel tones will complement tableware beautifully.” Frost, who has worked on over 50 weddings at the high-profile Babington House since 2022, often coordinates candle shades with the color palette of the plates, florals, and linens for a harmonious look.
“Glass or ceramic candleholders can echo the design elements of the centerpiece, whether it’s a minimalist vibe with sleek holders or a more romantic feel with ornate, vintage-inspired designs,” she said. “The glow of candlelight ties everything together, creating an intimate and inviting atmosphere.”
Trending Colors For 2025 Wedding Decor
The color trends for plates and napkins in 2025 will be rich, yet versatile. “Muted tones like sage green, dusty blue, and soft blush will remain popular,” said Frost. “Deeper hues like burgundy and midnight navy will make bold statements.” Patterned China is slated to make a comeback in 2025 weddings, especially vintage-inspired designs with florals or intricate motifs. “It’s perfect for adding a touch of nostalgia and charm,” she adds. Frost, who previously worked as an Event Manager at Thyme in Southrop, and at Caprice Holdings, an upscale restaurant chain in London, from 2019 to 2021, says there will be an importance placed on small wedding details, like name placement cards.
“Hand-lettered calligraphy or pressed flowers will be a favorite this year,” she said. “Linens will feature textured weaves or subtle prints that add depth without overwhelming the table.” When it comes to silverware in mixed metals, like gold and matte black, will be trending. “It adds a modern touch to classic settings,” she said. “Little extras, like personalized wax seals on place cards or napkin ties with greenery sprigs, will elevate the design and create memorable details guests will love.”
