New Launches Highlight the Enduring Appeal of Stainless Steel

From Bell & Ross to Breitling and Seiko, the latest releases show how stainless steel continues to drive versatility and market relevance in watchmaking.

Stainless steel gives a timepiece that robust edge and arresting punch it needs to get people’s attention. From the Bell & Ross BR-05 36MM to the Breitling Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic, steel yourself with these watches in the face of great adventures, as discoveries lie ahead.

Bell & Ross BR-05 36MM

After presenting the wildly successful BR05, Bell & Ross revisits its urban collection with the refreshed BR-05 36MM. With a smaller profile in mind, thanks to its 36mm diameter, Bell & Ross recognises that size does matter when it comes to elegant sports-chic timepieces. Much of the original watch’s winning formula remains: a robust stainless steel case with an integrated bracelet and a 100m water resistance to handle less rigorous exercises. Apart from the sunray ice blue dial option seen here, Bell & Ross unveiled three other dial options: black sunray, grey sunray, and mother-of-pearl.

Tudor Black Bay 58 Burgundy

The Tudor Black Bay 58 needs no introduction, but its new burgundy dial is striking enough to stand out from the impressive roster of timepieces the brand has released in 2025. Other striking colours have graced the Black Bay’s dials of late, but there is no denying that the burgundy is a good mix of adventurous and subdued, especially with its sunburst effect that captures light differently with every turn of the wrist. Another new feature accompanying this release is the METAS Master Chronometer-certified MT5400-U movement, which promises added precision, magnetic resistance, waterproofness, and 65-hour power reserve.

Breitling Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic

A new generation of Superocean Heritage is here, and Breitling certainly has not been sparse with the updates made to this selection of watches. We dive right into the most noticeable change, and that is the new sizes. The three-handed and date watches are available in 44mm, 42mm, and the all-new 40mm sizes. The last of which is a welcome addition, offering even more options to enthusiasts of the line. These three models all feature the Calibre B31 movement, which was just released earlier this year in another collection, the Top Time. The hype surrounding the B31 is due to it being Breitling’s first three-handed, in-house movement. It provides 78 hours of power reserve at 28,800vph and is also COSC-certified.

King Seiko VANAC SLA083

After more than 50 years, the King Seiko VANAC returns to Seiko’s repertoire of creations. Much of the watch’s construction remains true to its predecessor, albeit with subtle tweaks to match its source of inspiration, metropolitan Tokyo and its skyline. A faceted and angular case with contrasting mirror and hairline finishing reflects the city’s dynamism, while the vibrant purple dial colour evokes the evening twilight sky. Given the nobility and importance of the King Seiko collection, the watch is powered by the new Calibre 8L45, which features a 72-hour power reserve and a daily accuracy deviation of +10 to -5 seconds.

Tissot Seastar 1000 Quartz Chronograph 38mm

The new Tissot chronograph now features a 38mm diameter case, continuing the Seastar’s unending evolution since its debut in 1952. This is a nice size for both the office and the ocean, and its 300-metre water resistance further adds to its practical status, both on dive trips and in a meeting room. Due to its quartz movement, this watch can stay in your rotation or be kept in storage, and it will always be ready to go.
